Seh-Haw: The Mystical Herb from West Africa
READ HERE
This botanical monograph is an attempt to collect oral traditions, folklore, West African literature, first-hand anecdotes, personal correspondences from herbalists and tea men, as well as academic and scientific references for the West African superfood Combretum micranthum. We present the vast medicinal wonders of this herbal panacea and ‘infusion of long life,’ known most commonly by its French name Kinkeliba, for which the great Sufi master Cheikh Amadou Bamba Mbacke reasserted the West African ancestors’ mystical name Seh-haw. To properly convey the lesser-documented mystical healing properties of Seh-haw, it becomes essential to give the broadest outline of some of the most prominent aspects of the West African Islamic saint Cheikh Amadou Bamba, by highlighting some remarkable facets of his life and teachings in the broader context of Islam and Sufism. We humbly attempt to distill some of the master’s life and teachings into a mere few paragraphs to whet the appetite for true seekers and Muslims, as well as academics who have neglected this spiritual stream to their own and the world’s detriment.
